Unai Emery continues to build his legend and confirms once again that he is the true king of the Europa League. Aston Villa won the European competition in spectacular fashion.
The former Paris Saint-Germain coach lifted the fifth Europa League trophy of his career this Wednesday after Aston Villa’s dominant 3-0 victory over Freiburg in the final.
Emery Makes European Football History
Already crowned three consecutive times with Sevilla FC between 2014 and 2016, before winning again with Villarreal in 2021, Emery once again proved his incredible dominance in this competition.
The only slight disappointment in his European journey remains the 2019 final lost with Arsenal against Chelsea. But that setback does nothing to stop the Spanish manager from writing his name even deeper into European football history.
With five continental trophies, Emery now joins Giovanni Trapattoni, José Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti among the most successful managers in European competitions. A huge achievement for the coach who also left his mark at Paris Saint-Germain between 2016 and 2018.
