Disaster for Neymar Jr? Just days after being called up by Carlo Ancelotti for the 2026 World Cup, the Brazilian star is once again dealing with injury concerns after Santos confirmed a new physical issue.
Everything had seemed perfect for Neymar this week. At 34 years old, the former Paris Saint-Germain superstar secured his place for what is expected to be the final World Cup of his career. It was a huge relief for Brazil’s number 10, who accepted Carlo Ancelotti’s conditions to return to the Seleção.

But the physical nightmare continues. This Thursday, Rodrigo Zogaib, coordinator of Santos’ health department, confirmed that Neymar is suffering from calf edema. “Neymar has a minor calf injury, an edema. But according to our plan, his recovery should allow him to be fit next week when he joins the national team,” the Brazilian official explained.
The countdown has now begun for Neymar. The Brazilian is expected to miss between five and ten days and already sat out Santos’ Copa Sudamericana clash against San Lorenzo, which ended in a 2-2 draw. For now, his participation with Brazil is not under threat, but this latest physical setback is inevitably raising concerns around a player who has become increasingly fragile in recent years.
