Held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, Atlético Madrid still has every chance ahead of the return match at the Emirates Stadium. And Antoine Griezmann believes in it more than ever.
Antoine Griezmann will head to Florida at the end of the season. But he would love to play one last major match next May. The Champions League final remains within reach for Madrid, and “Grizou” is determined to be part of it. The Frenchman is showing great confidence ahead of this decisive clash. Despite several missed chances in the first leg, he is already looking ahead to the return match with ambition.
Griezmann’s confidence before the return leg
Griezmann promises to score: “My dream is to play in a Champions League final again. I’ve prepared a lot for these two matches against Arsenal,” he explained after the game. He went even further with a bold statement: “Tonight, I had three chances and didn’t score. But I’m sure I will score in the return leg.”
“My feeling after my last Champions League game here? Very happy. A lot of emotion when we stepped onto the pitch and the fans threw the papers, it was very beautiful. Magnificent to see from the field. I’ve engraved that in my mind and heart, and then we had to play football,” the former FC Barcelona player told Canal+. “On the pitch, I just wanted to play, touch the ball, and win. The return leg? I think it will be a fairly similar match. We’ll need to work well tactically, fix two or three things in our pressing. We did it at halftime today, and we’ll have to build on the momentum from the second half.”
