PSG and Monaco will have to fight for their European survival in the playoffs. After their draws against Newcastle (1-1) and Juventus (0-0), the two French clubs missed out on the top eight and made things much harder for themselves.
Ranked 11th, PSG could face either Monaco or Qarabag, a much more manageable opponent on paper. For their part, ASM, only 21st, are in real danger with a possible showdown against Paris or a reunion with Newcastle, their tormentors.
A High-Stakes Playoff Draw
The scenario is cruel and potentially explosive, with the possibility of an all-French clash that would inevitably eliminate one of the two.
The verdict will be delivered this Friday at noon during the draw. One thing is certain: for both Paris and Monaco, there is no longer any room for error.
The road to the round of 16 is already under extreme pressure. Potential opponents are clear: PSG could face Monaco or Qarabag, while Monaco could meet Paris or Newcastle.
