PSG will once again have to go through the playoff round. Held to a 1–1 draw by Newcastle, the Parisians finish the league phase in a disappointing 11th place, far from their Top 8 objective.

“We know the playoffs. It will be difficult because it’s the Champions League, but we’ll be ready,” the Spanish technician promised on Canal+. In the dressing room, the same mix of frustration and clear-headedness prevailed, with Safonov playing it down by saying that “that’s football,” while Vitinha did not hide his bitterness: “We controlled the match, we had too many chances… and we didn’t win.”

As a result, PSG will play for their European survival in the playoffs, with Monaco or Qarabag on their path. A dangerous and stressful detour, but one that has almost become a habit. In Paris, the real Champions League starts now.
