Diogo Jota’s physiotherapist has spoken out following the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of the Liverpool striker and his brother André. He firmly denies any rumors of partying or reckless behavior.

Just hours after the fatal crash in Spain, respiratory physiotherapist Miguel Gonçalves, who was treating Jota following recent lung surgery, shared details of their last conversation.

“I’ve read shameful things”

Responding to speculation on social media and in some media outlets, Gonçalves was unequivocal: “They weren’t partying. That’s completely false. Diogo even postponed his surgery to help the national team in the Nations League. He made a remarkable recovery.”

Jota was optimistic and eager to return to top form. “He was no longer in pain and ready for a strong comeback. He wasn’t going on Liverpool’s preseason tour to Japan, but he was convinced he’d have a great season,” the doctor concluded, paying tribute to a player he called “truly exceptional.”
