Erling Haaland is not making a big deal out of the decisive clash between Norway and France. The Manchester City striker is already looking ahead and believes France will go all the way to become world champions.
Having already secured qualification for the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, Norway will approach its final group-stage match against France without any real pressure. A situation that seems to suit Haaland perfectly, as he openly admitted his lack of concern ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.
Haaland Backs France for World Cup Glory
Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone, the Norwegian forward explained that the main objective had already been achieved for his national team. “Honestly, I don’t really care about this match now. We’re qualified. We managed to get through, which is incredible, so this game doesn’t interest me that much,” said the Manchester City goalscorer.
Beyond his apparent indifference toward the showdown with Les Bleus, Haaland also expressed tremendous confidence in the French national team. The Norway captain believes Didier Deschamps’ side is the clear favorite to lift the trophy.
“They will probably beat us, and they will probably win the tournament,” he added. It is a strong statement that reflects the respect France has earned after its impressive performances since the start of the World Cup. Even before kickoff against Norway, Haaland had already made his prediction: for the Scandinavian star, France has everything needed to claim another World Cup title.
