Hansi Flick is facing suspension for the Clásico at the Bernabéu… and Barça is doing everything possible to save him.
Sent off against Girona after receiving two yellow cards from Gil Manzano, the coach currently cannot sit on the bench against Real Madrid. But be careful: by appealing, Barça could open the door to an even heavier sanction!
Barça contests: “The applause was not for the referee!”
The Blaugrana club is preparing arguments to overturn at least one of the two yellow cards. Flick claims that his applause was not ironic towards Gil Manzano, but directed at Frenkie de Jong. If Barça proves this, Flick could avoid a suspension match… but he himself is only half convinced.
The real danger: obscene gestures
Because there is worse. After Araújo’s goal, Flick was filmed making obscene gestures (flipping the bird) from the bench. Not mentioned in the report… but visible everywhere on television. The Committee can intervene on its own and impose severe sanctions.
“It was my way of celebrating the victory, it was not directed at anyone,” the coach said at the press conference.

And that’s not all… Sent off, Flick did not even go to the locker room. He stayed on the sidelines. Another infraction that could worsen his case. A possible sanction could rise to 5 matches or more.
Verdict?
Hansi Flick could go from a one-match suspension… to several. The Clásico is at stake, but the risk is enormous.
