Achraf Hakimi has been referred to trial on charges of rape and sexual assault, despite an appeal filed by his defense. As part of the investigation, Kylian Mbappé, a close friend of the Moroccan player and his former teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, was questioned by investigators. According to Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, he supported his friend by confirming his statements.
“He confirmed in every respect Achraf Hakimi’s statements. He first confirmed Mr. Hakimi’s respectful behavior toward women and the appropriate conduct he has always displayed,” the lawyer said during her appearance on BFMTV this Thursday. “He also confirmed that Achraf Hakimi was stunned when the accusation of rape by digital penetration was made against him, that he did not understand the accusation and did not see where it could have come from. Finally, in response to the investigator’s question, he confirmed that at no time did he believe Mr. Hakimi was capable of committing the acts of which he is accused.”
Mbappé’s Statements and the Ongoing Legal Battle
According to a source close to the investigation, Kylian Mbappé explained during his hearing that Achraf Hakimi had described the evening to him, mentioning mutual kisses and touching. The case is now entering a new judicial phase. The Paris Saint-Germain defender has been referred to trial on rape charges, and his defense, led by Ms. Fanny Colin, has filed an appeal against the indictment order.
If the appeal is accepted, Hakimi could avoid a trial. Otherwise, the Moroccan international will have to appear in court and respond to the accusations brought by the complainant.
