At 39 years old, Hugo Lloris is gradually approaching the end of his playing career. However, the former France captain does not necessarily see himself leaving the world of football and has even left the door open for a return to OGC Nice, the club where it all began for him.
Lloris does not rule out a return to Nice, not necessarily as a player, but in another role linked to the club. In an interview with Nice-Matin, the Los Angeles FC goalkeeper reaffirmed his deep attachment to the club. “Nice is the club of my heart. It’s my city, where I grew up and where I was developed as a player,” he said.
Lloris Open to a Future Role at Nice
The World Cup winner believes he could bring his experience and expertise to the Riviera club, but only under the right circumstances. “If I want to stay involved in football, there need to be the right people and the right project. I have experience and expertise, but there must also be a way to put them into practice,” he explained.
Lloris also offered a critical assessment of the club’s current situation. The former Tottenham goalkeeper believes several aspects need to improve. “We need to rebuild on healthier foundations. One thing is certain: there must be genuine respect for the shirt from players, executives, and supporters,” he insisted.
It was a strong message from a man who, despite being thousands of miles away from the French Riviera, continues to closely follow the future of the club that remains closest to his heart.
