This weekend, Lamine Yamal celebrated his 18th birthday with a high-profile private party in Ibiza, attended by stars like Gavi, Pedri, and Lewis Hamilton.
The event was tightly organized and highly secured, with guests reportedly having their phones confiscated to prevent leaks. However, despite the precautions, the celebration has sparked major controversy in Spain.
The association ADEE, which represents people with dwarfism and skeletal dysplasias, issued a statement condemning the use of individuals with dwarfism as party entertainment.
“Several people suffering from dwarfism were hired with no other purpose than to serve as attractions and spectacle,” said Carolina Puente, president of the association.
“This kind of practice is unacceptable as it perpetuates stereotypes, fuels discrimination, and violates the fundamental rights of individuals with dwarfism.”
So far, Lamine Yamal’s entourage has not commented, but the incident is already generating widespread backlash across Spain.
