After weeks of tense negotiations, Arsenal and Sporting CP have finally reached an agreement for the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners will sign the Swedish striker for €63.5 million plus €10 million in bonuses.
At 27 years old, Gyökeres was determined to make the move to the Premier League, even refusing to return to training with the Portuguese side. After a phenomenal season — 54 goals in 52 matches across all competitions — the forward is set to sign a five-year deal with Arsenal.
Already busy this summer with the signings of Zubimendi, Nørgaard, Kepa, and Madueke, Arsenal are finally landing their No.1 offensive target. The Swedish international (15 goals in 26 caps) is seen as the missing piece in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
