An emotional night at Anfield. Before and after Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener, the club paid tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically passed away in a car accident on July 3.
The Reds’ supporters filled the stadium with chants in memory of the Portuguese international, creating a moving atmosphere.
Deeply affected, Mohamed Salah — who scored in the match — couldn’t hold back his tears. The Egyptian appeared overwhelmed by the emotional connection between the fans and Jota’s former teammates.
Powerful images that showed once again that beyond football, Anfield knows how to come together in moments of grief and solidarity.
