Manchester City may well be Pep Guardiola’s final challenge in football. The Spanish coach has shut the door once and for all on a return to FC Barcelona.
Asked by the English press about a possible comeback at the Camp Nou, Guardiola was blunt: “Barcelona? That’s over. Over forever. It was beautiful, but it’s done.”
A powerful statement from the Catalan tactician, who made history at Barça between 2008 and 2012 — transforming the team into a near-invincible force. During his tenure, he won two Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies, while establishing a legendary playing style. But for Guardiola, those glory days are now part of the past.
A new cycle at City
Despite what some see as a disappointing season, Guardiola has extended his contract with Manchester City until 2027. His focus is now fully on rebuilding his squad after the departure of several key veterans.
The Premier League season kicks off on August 18, with City opening away at Wolverhampton. A fresh start — but one that will take place far from Barcelona.
