Paul Pogba is officially back in Ligue 1. The 2018 World Cup winner has signed with AS Monaco until 2027 as a free agent after leaving Juventus — marking his first experience in France’s top division. But for now, he’s training separately from the main squad.
An unexpected move? The French midfielder admitted he was encouraged by close friends and ex-teammates: “Kylian [Mbappé], Ben [Mendy], Kondogbia… they all told me life is great here. I also spoke with Thiago [Scuro], and I felt good energy. That convinced me to visit the training centre,” he said.
A fair contract for a global star
Despite his global fame, Pogba didn’t get any special treatment. His salary is capped at €320,000 gross per month (approx. £270,000) — on par with Monaco’s current top earners. A strong signal of the club’s disciplined strategy.
He will wear the number 8 jersey and joins a side aiming to challenge at the top of Ligue 1 this season.
A careful but promising comeback
Sidelined since September 2023, “La Pioche” is now back to individual training with the ball. If he completes the second part of his medical, the deal will be fully finalized. His goal? Regain top form and earn a spot in France’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Pogba’s return to France is a bold bet — but it might just pay off.
