Neymar finally returned to the pitch with Santos on Sunday in the Paulista championship, two months after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Coming on at halftime against Velo Clube, the 34-year-old Brazilian forward made an immediate impact with an assist in a dominant 6–0 win, marking his first appearance since December 2025.
A dangerous tackle nearly ruined his comeback
His comeback almost ended abruptly: he was the victim of an extremely dangerous tackle by Islan, punished with only a yellow card. Neymar narrowly avoided a new injury and was able to finish the match.
Still absent from the national team since October 2023 and not yet recalled by new head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Neymar continues to target the 2026 World Cup and hopes to rebuild momentum with Santos despite ongoing physical fragility.
What madness. The score was 4–0 with ten men on the field. That tackle was meant to hurt. Fortunately, nothing serious happened to Neymar.
Que loucura. Jogo 4×0 com 10 em campo.
Foi pra pegar e machucar. Ainda bem que não aconteceu nada grave com o Neymar. pic.twitter.com/nHezjbwaDK
