At 34 years old, Neymar has cast doubt over the future of his career. Back at Santos, the Brazilian forward is no longer ruling out the possibility of ending his professional journey when his contract expires, even though he is still aiming to take part in the 2026 World Cup.
Asked by Cazé TV, the former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star admitted he feels uncertain about what lies ahead. He refuses to look too far into the future and prefers to take things step by step, with no guarantees about what next season may bring.
A Crucial Year Ahead for Neymar and Santos
“I don’t know what will happen in the future. I don’t know what next year will be like. It’s possible that in December, I may feel like retiring. I’m living day by day now,” the former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player told Cazé TV.
One thing is certain: the current year will be decisive. It will be crucial for Santos, who are seeking stability and strong results, but also for the Brazilian national team. For Neymar, this represents a major challenge — likely one of the final great chapters of his career. “This year is very important, not only for Santos but also for the Brazilian national team. For me as well, it is a very big challenge,” he explained.
