Scandal at Real Madrid. According to information from La SER, the Merengue club has decided to crack down on its own supporters and is now threatening to exclude any member of the Grada de Animación who whistles at the team during the next match against Levante.
According to the Spanish radio station, Real Madrid has informed the relevant supporter groups that after the match, the club will conduct a thorough analysis of the surveillance camera footage from the Santiago Bernabéu. The goal is clear: to precisely identify the supporters who would have whistled at the players in order to sanction them.
The message conveyed by the club is unambiguous: “Those who want to whistle can do so outside the stadium.” In other words, any dissent inside the venue could now result in exclusion from the animation stand.
Tense climate surrounding the team
A radical and unprecedented measure that is already causing a significant reaction in Spain. Never before has Real Madrid gone this far in monitoring and repressing its own supporters for whistling. The Grada de Animación, the heart of the atmosphere at the Bernabéu, is now directly in the crosshairs of the management.
This toughening occurs in an already very tense climate surrounding the team and its recent performances, along with the dismissal of Xabi Alonso. By choosing firmness over appeasement, Real Madrid risks further worsening its relationship with a portion of its fanbase.
If this decision is implemented, it could set a very worrying precedent in European football, where the freedom of expression of supporters in stadiums would now be clearly called into question.
