PSG did the job without trembling. This Friday evening at the Parc des Princes, Luis Enrique’s men comfortably won against Lille (3-0) and temporarily reclaimed the top spot in the Ligue 1 standings, awaiting RC Lens’ match on Saturday against Auxerre.
Against a Lille side that was too timid and ultimately quite harmless, as they had been against Lyon last Sunday, Paris never really had to force their talent. Serious, well-organized, and driven by a flourishing Ousmane Dembélé, PSG quickly took control of the match before managing their lead with mastery.
This victory allows the Parisians to regain confidence after a more difficult period, and especially to put pressure on Lens, who will play later in the weekend. In the meantime, Paris sits at the top, although this first place remains provisional.
Lille, a missed opportunity
For LOSC, however, the missed opportunity is real. The Northerners continue to drop precious points in the race for Europe and could lose their fourth place by the end of this matchday. Too little dangerous, too uninspired offensively, Bruno Genesio’s men leave Paris with many regrets… and no illusions.
