Galatasaray faced a major scare. During their heavy 4-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League, Noa Lang suffered a frightening accident late in the match.
The Dutch forward was seriously injured after colliding with an advertising board, clutching his hand in pain. Lying on the ground and clearly suffering, with his thumb bleeding, he had to be stretchered off to applause from Anfield.
Severe thumb injury confirmed by the club
In a statement released overnight, the Turkish club provided reassuring news despite the alarming nature of the injury.
“Noa Lang is suffering from a deep cut to his right thumb and will undergo surgery in Liverpool in the coming hours, with the involvement of our medical team,” Galatasaray confirmed.
Before the official update, concerns had intensified, particularly following comments from his international teammate Jeremie Frimpong. “Some say half of his finger was torn off, something like that. He’s in pain…,” he told Dutch television.
Damn. It’s more serious than I thought 💔

While the worst-case scenario now appears to be ruled out, Lang will still require surgery—a further blow for Galatasaray, already dealing with multiple injuries.
