Pushed aside last week after major internal tensions at La Commanderie, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is finally set to return to the Marseille squad.
The Gabonese striker had been left out of the trip to Le Havre after being described as one of the leaders of a group of players accused of creating unrest during OM’s long training camp.
Marseille Tensions Slowly Easing
But apparently, things have calmed down internally. Aubameyang will be included in the Olympian squad for the final match of the season against Stade Rennais on Sunday.
At 36 years old, the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker remains an important figure in the dressing room despite a season that has sometimes been difficult collectively. With 9 Ligue 1 goals this season, Aubameyang still carries huge influence within the Marseille squad, and his return could help avoid a completely explosive end to the season on the Canebière.
However, this latest episode once again confirms that the atmosphere remains extremely tense in Marseille as the season comes to a close.
