Just hours before France’s opening match against Senegal, Paul Pogba has no doubts: the French national team will win the 2026 World Cup.
Pogba may not be taking part in the tournament, but he has a clear opinion on who will lift the trophy. Speaking to Marca, the 2018 World Cup winner even suggested that the current generation is stronger than the one that secured France’s second star in Russia.
Pogba Backs France for World Cup Glory
“Yes, I think this team is much better today. It has more quality than ours,” said the AS Monaco midfielder. Pogba highlighted Kylian Mbappé’s experience as well as the emergence of new talents such as Désiré Doué, Michael Olise, and Rayan Cherki.
For the former Manchester United and Juventus player, Les Bleus simply possess the most impressive squad in the competition. “Individually, I think this is the strongest team at this World Cup,” he stated.
Pogba went even further with his prediction: “They are the favorites, and they are going to win.” A bold statement that adds even more pressure on Didier Deschamps’ men ahead of their tournament opener against Senegal.
