According to France Info, Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi is set to stand trial before the criminal court on charges of rape. The investigating judge followed the requisitions of the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, which had requested a trial in the summer of 2025. The decision comes on the eve of the Champions League second-leg playoff against Monaco.
Placed under formal investigation in March 2023 and under judicial supervision since then, the Moroccan international is accused of raping a young woman he met via Instagram at his home in Hauts-de-Seine. The accounts differ: the player claims he “only kissed the young woman,” while the complainant alleges rape.
Disputed Accounts and Strong Reactions from Both Sides
His lawyer, Ms. Fanny Colin, strongly contests the decision: “A trial has been ordered based solely on the word of a woman who obstructed all investigations, refused all medical examinations and DNA tests, refused access to her mobile phone, and declined to provide the name of a key witness.” She added that two successive psychological assessments revealed a lack of clarity regarding the facts she claims to denounce and no signs of post-traumatic symptoms, while also accusing her of attempting to conceal messages exchanged with a friend allegedly planning to ‘rob’ Mr. Hakimi.
Hakimi has denounced what he describes as blackmail. Speaking on the show Clique on Canal+, he called the allegations “a lie.” He later reiterated his stance on social media, stating that “today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial even though I contest it and everything shows it is false. It is just as unfair to the innocent as it is to genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
For her part, the complainant’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, responded on France Info: “We will not tolerate any smear or destabilization campaign, as is still too often the case for women who have the courage to report the rapes they have suffered,” emphasizing that “these battles are always difficult when denouncing rape, especially when the accused is such a well-known figure.”
