Lamine Camara’s tackle on Lucas Chevalier during Monaco vs PSG has sparked major controversy. Shown only a yellow card and not reviewed by VAR, the Monaco midfielder received what many consider an incomprehensible decision.
PSG coach Luis Enrique did not hide his anger. He said Chevalier was extremely lucky to avoid injury. “He was very lucky today. I won’t say more because it’s not my job, but it’s incredible. Lucas Chevalier was very lucky,” he told beIN Sports.
For former referee and L’Équipe consultant Saïd Ennjimi, the decision is not debatable. “It’s a red card 100 times out of 100. It’s unbelievable and illogical that it wasn’t given. The Monaco player has absolutely no chance of getting the ball. It’s a tackle off the ground, very late”.
“He catches Chevalier’s ankle and could have injured him. People might think the foul looked more spectacular than dangerous, but that’s not the case.” He concluded by saying it was “a scarlet red card” and that it was difficult to understand why VAR did not intervene.
Why not a Red Card ?

Lucas Chevalier himself confirmed the potential seriousness of the tackle. “Everyone saw what happened to my ankle. Today, my career could have taken a very different direction and I was very lucky. I didn’t dwell on it, it was over. But sometimes there are gestures that must be avoided. Today, I just know I was very lucky and that I can continue playing every week.”
A video shared by Ligue 1+ on November 29, 2025, showed the frightening moment, with many observers questioning how the tackle did not result in a red.
