According to Le Parisien, the courts have confirmed that the €200,000 paid by Ousmane Dembélé to his mother in 2017 will indeed be taxed. Fatimata Dembélé requested the cancellation of this taxation, explaining that it was simply a “gift” for her 40th birthday.
Another setback for the Dembélé family. The courts have rejected the request to cancel the taxation of a €200,000 “gift” made by the PSG player to his mother.
The issue? The administrative court of Rennes was not convinced by the defense’s arguments. The transfer occurred more than six months after the birthday, to an undeclared Spanish account. As a result, the amount is considered income of indeterminate origin, and therefore taxable.
Taxation upheld, it plays on
Despite the lawyer’s arguments, which stated that there was no fraud and that the amount was proportionate to the player’s income, the court ruled: the taxation is upheld.
This off-field issue… is something Ousmane Dembélé would have preferred to avoid, especially as he is already sidelined with an injury.
