Raphinha spoke candidly about Lamine Yamal’s habits and his heavy phone use, a topic that has become increasingly common in the daily lives of young players. According to the Brazilian winger, his teammate spends a great deal of time on social media.

Lamine Yamal is hooked on social networks, says Raphinha. He explains that the youngster is almost constantly on his phone, switching between TikTok, WhatsApp, Instagram, and music, with his headphones frequently on.

Heavy Phone Use Affecting His Mornings

According to him, this late-night screen time leads him to go to bed later than expected, which shows the next morning when the young player still looks half asleep. Raphinha stresses that it’s not about partying or going out, but simply too much time spent on a screen — a habit he admits he also shares on some evenings.

He describes Yamal as calm when he wakes up, quiet and not very talkative during the first hour of the day. “In the morning he’s always sleepy because I think he goes to bed late. Not because he parties every day, but because spending so much time on the phone makes you sleep late. Sometimes I go to bed late too for the same reason. He’s not grumpy, he’s just silent and doesn’t talk much during the first hour,” the Brazilian said.

Proof that Raphinha’s comments are not unfounded, the young Spanish prodigy has reportedly decided to distance himself from social platforms to refocus on what matters most: football. According to El Chiringuito, he has worked with professionals to better understand the impact and risks of social media, resulting in far fewer posts now mostly related to matches and his club. His objective is clear — stay fully focused on his sporting progress and reach his highest level, away from outside noise.
