Real Madrid have officially ruled on the incredible clash that took place this week at Valdebebas between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. After opening disciplinary proceedings on Thursday, the two Madrid midfielders have now been financially punished by the Spanish club.
The punishment has arrived for Valverde and Tchouaméni, and it is a heavy one financially rather than sporting-wise. In a statement released this Friday, Real Madrid explained that both players were questioned by the head of the internal investigation. Valverde and Tchouaméni reportedly expressed their “sincere regrets” following the altercation and apologized to each other.

The Merengue club also specified that the two internationals apologized to their teammates, the coaching staff, the board and Real Madrid supporters. Both players also reportedly assured the club they were fully willing to cooperate with the investigation and accept the punishment decided by the management.
As an immediate consequence, Real Madrid handed Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni a €500,000 fine. The heavy sanction officially brings an end to the disciplinary proceedings opened after the massive internal incident.
The affair created huge tension in Spain over the last few hours, with several media outlets reporting that the atmosphere inside the Madrid dressing room had become particularly strained following the club’s recent poor results.
