Despite a 1-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, Real Madrid remains hopeful. Their coach Alvaro Arbeloa showed strong confidence after the match.

For the Madrid manager, nothing is decided before the return leg in Germany. “We are still in it. We only need one goal to level the tie. We are capable of winning anywhere,” he said, while also lamenting his team’s lack of efficiency. A clear message, paired with a warning: “Those who doubt should stay in Madrid.”

Heavily criticized after the defeat to Mallorca in La Liga, Kylian Mbappé responded on the pitch. The French forward scored against Bayern and was one of Madrid’s most dangerous players, despite losing several duels against Manuel Neuer.

Arbeloa did not hide his satisfaction, praising a player who was “committed, disruptive, and constantly dangerous,” adding that this was “the Mbappé we want to see,” the one aiming to become the best player in the world.

The Madrid coach also addressed refereeing decisions, notably regretting the absence of a red card for Jonathan Tah after a heavy challenge on Mbappé, a call by referee Michael Oliver that has sparked debate. At the same time, Arbeloa questioned the suspension of Aurélien Tchouaméni for the return leg. Struggling against Michael Olise, Alvaro Carreras endured a difficult night, but Arbeloa defended his player, expressing full confidence in his potential despite the challenge.

Despite the first-leg setback, Real Madrid remains fully committed to qualification, delivering a clear message: believe in a comeback… or stay at home.
