Ligue 1. Lens Urged to “Sabotage” the Match Against PSG

The postponement of the match between Lens and PSG continues to spark controversy. Initially scheduled for Saturday, between the two legs of the Champions League quarter-finals, the Ligue 1 clash was ultimately moved to mid-May to give the Parisians some rest. A decision that is far from unanimous.

On RMC, Daniel Riolo did not hold back. The pundit believes that RC Lens has been completely disrespected in this matter and did not hesitate to suggest a radical response from the club. “They were shown monstrous contempt: ‘it’s not even important, we don’t care about you.’ You’ve put them in a situation where they’re forced to play a friendly against Rouen with thirteen days without playing. You’re imposing a crazy schedule on them at a crucial point in the season,” he said.

Scheduling Controversy Sparks Strong Reactions

According to him, Lens has been penalized by inconsistent scheduling, with a long break followed by an intense run of matches. A situation he clearly sees as unfavorable for the Sang et Or.

“You want to make fun of us? I’ll send you La Gaillette”

In this context, the journalist takes things a step further and suggests a bold response: “If I were Lens, I’d do a Pape Diouf 2006. You want to make fun of us? I’ll send you La Gaillette. Bollaert is full, and good luck, kids!”

A direct reference to Pape Diouf, when Olympique de Marseille sent a weakened squad to the Parc des Princes in 2006 to protest restrictions targeting its supporters. Despite this decision, Marseille managed to hold Paris Saint-Germain to a 0-0 draw.

It remains to be seen whether Lens will go as far as adopting such a strategy. Especially in a title race that seems out of reach for them, it’s hard to imagine the northern club embracing such a far-fetched idea. But one thing is certain: this postponement continues to fuel tensions surrounding PSG.
