Another blow for Manchester United: a 1-0 loss in the Europa League final to Tottenham this Wednesday. Is Ruben Amorim the sole culprit?
Arriving in November, coach Ruben Amorim now bears the weight of a tough end to the season. After the disappointment in Bilbao, the Portuguese manager made heartfelt comments about his future.
Amorim: “I Will Leave If Asked”
“I won’t talk about the future. Tonight, we must face the pain of this loss. We were the better team, but we didn’t manage to score,” Amorim explained after the match.
“I have nothing to prove to the fans. I’m always open. If the board and supporters believe I am not the right person, I will leave the next day without taking any money. But I won’t resign. I trust my work.”
The Sporting Portugal coach reaffirmed that he would not change his approach to managing the team, despite the criticism. However, the club’s management, which is looking to renew the squad, may seize the opportunity to change coaches once again.
