Real Madrid are quietly preparing for a summer midfield shake-up. While Martín Zubimendi remains the top target to reinforce Los Blancos’ engine room, Arsenal could beat them to the punch. In that case, Madrid have a prestigious backup in mind: Rodri.

According to Cadena Ser, club president Florentino Pérez has identified Manchester City’s midfield general as an alternative.

The Spain international, who was developed at Atlético Madrid, could be lured back to La Liga if the Madrid project appeals to him.

A Spanish core taking shape

Recent moves suggest Madrid are aiming to “Spanish-ize” their squad. After bringing in Fran García and Joselu, and targeting Álvaro Carreras, Dean Huijsen and Zubimendi, adding Rodri would further cement this identity shift.
