CF Monterrey is aiming high — really high. According to Mexican outlet Record, the Liga MX club is trying to lure Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid in what would be a sensational transfer.
The club has already made contact with Griezmann’s sister, who manages his career, and internal talks have validated the ambition. Monterrey dreams of replicating the Gignac or Sergio Ramos coups — big-name European stars making surprise moves to Mexico.
Griezmann still going strong
At 34, Griezmann isn’t slowing down. He recently scored in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano and remains a key figure at Atlético. Though his contract runs until 2027, Monterrey is hoping to break through with a compelling project — strong finances, growing international exposure, and a lead role on and off the pitch.
Convincing the Frenchman to leave Europe — and his stated dream of finishing in MLS — won’t be easy. But Monterrey believes it has the arguments to make him think twice.
