Karim Benzema’s future could be heading for a stunning twist. After joining Al-Hilal during the last winter transfer window, the former Ballon d’Or winner is already reportedly facing an uncertain future, according to Al Arabiya FM.
The Saudi Pro League appears determined to move away from its aging superstar strategy. After celebrating Benzema’s arrival just a few years ago, Saudi football is now reportedly looking to usher in a new era, with the French striker among the high-profile names who could leave.
Al-Hilal Planning a Major Squad Overhaul
Despite the speculation, Benzema has delivered on the pitch. The 38-year-old has scored nine goals and provided five assists in just 13 appearances. However, those impressive numbers may not be enough to secure his place as Al-Hilal prepares for a significant rebuild following a disappointing trophyless campaign.
According to the Saudi broadcaster, Al-Hilal is considering parting ways with three key players this summer. Benzema is reportedly at the top of the list, with club officials exploring the possibility of terminating his contract by mutual agreement. Darwin Núñez and Marcos Leonardo are also said to be part of the planned squad reduction as the club responds to mounting pressure from supporters. It remains to be seen whether Benzema will agree to leave only months after arriving, or whether these reports will ultimately prove to be unfounded.
