Chelsea have officially turned the page on Enzo Maresca. The London club announced this Thursday the end of its collaboration with the Italian coach, whose position had been weakened by a series of disappointing results and increasingly strained relations with the club’s leadership. Both parties have reached an agreement for an amicable separation.

In its statement, Chelsea thanked Maresca for his work and the successes achieved during his time in charge, notably the victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the triumph at the Club World Cup. “These successes will remain etched in the club’s recent history,” the statement said, while stressing that the team’s high sporting ambitions this season motivated the change in order to “get the team back on track.”
