It is official: Erik ten Hag is changing suits. After difficult stints on the benches of Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen, the Dutch technician is beginning a new chapter in the offices by becoming the new technical director of FC Twente.
After setbacks on the touchline, Ten Hag is turning into a man of the front office. The club from Twente has confirmed his arrival starting with the 2026–2027 season. However, he will already be present within the organization from February 1 to prepare the transition and work on sporting matters. He has signed a contract running until June 2028.
A Strategic Shift Off the Touchline
A former coach of Ajax Amsterdam, with whom he enjoyed his greatest successes, Ten Hag will now focus on building the sporting project, recruitment, and the structuring of the club rather than working on the pitch.
For Twente, it is an important move, attracting an experienced profile accustomed to ambitious projects and demanding environments. For Ten Hag, it is a clear turn in his career, with the desire to influence Dutch football in a different way, this time from behind the scenes.
