Paris Saint-Germain is already preparing for the summer transfer window, and several names are being linked with moves to strengthen Luis Enrique’s squad. Among them is Barcelona and France international defender Jules Koundé.
PSG are keeping an eye on Koundé, but Barcelona remain relaxed about the situation. According to several Spanish media outlets, the Parisian coach is a big admirer of the former Bordeaux and Sevilla player. His versatility, allowing him to play both as a central defender and a right-back, perfectly matches the needs of the European champions.
Koundé Addresses His Future
Speaking at a press conference with the French national team, Jules Koundé sought to put an end to speculation surrounding his future. “I have a contract until 2030, and in my mind things are very clear. Unless something changes, I am a Barcelona player and I hope to stay there next season,” said the 27-year-old defender.
Those comments appear to reduce the likelihood of a short-term departure. Barcelona also view Koundé as one of the key pillars of their squad. However, the club’s ongoing financial challenges continue to fuel transfer rumors, with high-value players frequently mentioned as potential assets should significant offers arrive.
For now, there is no concrete indication that Barcelona want to sell Jules Koundé or that the player is considering leaving. Nevertheless, as is often the case during the transfer window, situations can change quickly if a major bid is submitted. At present, the strongest expectation remains that the French defender will stay in Catalonia.
