Arsenal are closing in on their top summer target: Viktor Gyökeres. The Swedish striker has given the green light to a move to the Emirates, and the deal is now nearing completion.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have submitted a €65 million (£55 million) offer, bonuses included, to Sporting CP for the prolific forward, who netted 39 goals this season in Liga Portugal.
Gyökeres, 26, is said to prefer Arsenal’s project over that of Manchester United, who have been chasing him for weeks. The former Coventry striker is excited by the opportunity to play under Mikel Arteta and join a squad fresh off a Premier League runner-up finish.
The Gunners are now in pole position — and United may be forced to look elsewhere.
