Despite growing speculation about a potential departure at the end of the MLS season, Lionel Messi is not planning to leave Inter Miami — quite the opposite. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks are already underway to extend his stay beyond 2025.
Rumors from Argentina suggested Messi might walk away free in December 2025, possibly to return to Europe in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. His standout performance — despite Inter Miami’s 0-4 loss to PSG — only fueled that narrative. Many still believe that, in a stronger team, Messi could continue shining at the highest level.
Saudi Arabia? Not on the table.
Behind the scenes, however, the reality is clear: “Leo is under contract until the end of 2025, and both sides want to continue,” reports Romano, citing Inter Miami sources.
At 38 years old, Messi appears content in Florida, far from European pressure — and for now, far from any Saudi temptation. All signs point to him ending his career in MLS, at David Beckham’s club.
A new chapter, not the final one — at least not yet.
