Rodri is close to signing a new contract with Manchester City, as the club looks to shut the door on Real Madrid’s growing interest.
The Spanish midfielder, seen by Madrid as the perfect successor to Toni Kroos, is firmly in the plans of the Premier League champions. According to Fabrizio Romano, City are preparing to offer Rodri a two-year extension to his current deal, which runs until 2027.
The new contract would tie him to the club until 2029 and include the second-highest salary in the squad — behind only Erling Haaland.
A powerful message from Manchester City, both to Rodri and to Real Madrid — and a clear show of faith in the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.
