Jean-Philippe Mateta is still setting the market alight. Long linked with a move to Juventus, the Crystal Palace striker has ultimately not moved… mainly because of his XXL price tag: the Eagles are asking for €46 million to let their goalscorer go.
Now Nottingham Forest are making a move. According to The Athletic, the English club has submitted an opening bid of €40 million. A hefty sum, but still not enough to convince Palace, who remain inflexible about their valuation.
Crystal Palace stand firm on their price
Good news for Forest: the player is attracted by the project and should have no trouble reaching a contract agreement with the Tricky Trees. But the deal remains blocked by one clear point: without €46m on the table, Palace will not sell.
Behind the scenes, the London club are already looking for a replacement, with the name Strand Larsen notably being mentioned in this final week of the transfer window. The message is crystal clear: Mateta will leave, but only at a premium price.
