Olympique de Marseille are moving quickly in their search for a new head coach: Habib Beye is very close to signing, even if nothing is finalized yet and the club is still considering other names.
Habib Beye is getting seriously closer to Olympique de Marseille. Contacted very soon after Roberto De Zerbi’s departure, confirmed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Senegalese coach now appears to be the leading candidate for the position. Free since leaving Stade Rennais on Monday, Beye is gaining ground thanks to his knowledge of the Marseille environment. According to L’Équipe, no official offer has been sent yet, but his profile is currently favored internally.
Other Coaching Options Still Under Review
Regarding alternative options, Sérgio Conceição — previously targeted by the club — remains interested in the Marseille project. However, his release clause of around €4.5 million with Al-Ittihad makes the deal more complicated. The name of Nigeria national team coach Eric Chelle has also been submitted to the club’s management.
The possibilities of appointing Laurent Blanc or Christophe Galtier now appear to be fading.
