The beautiful journey of PSG in the Champions League has left its mark… and not just on its opponents. Bradley Barcola has been immediately targeted by the biggest European clubs. And the Parisian winger hasn’t just been watching: he has listened attentively.

Indeed, the arrival of Kvaratskhelia this summer has reshuffled the cards. Officially, everything is fine in the locker room. Unofficially, Barcola has slipped down a notch in the hierarchy… and it has not been without consequence.

As Fabrice Hawkins revealed on Aliotalk: “Barcola has had thoughts of leaving. Bayern, Liverpool have shown interest.” Just that. Two giants ready to pounce. And Barcola has indeed thought it over. Changing countries, discovering a different style of play, shining elsewhere… the temptation was real.

But this potential departure was not only related to competition. Again, Fabrice Hawkins sheds light: Barcola “was not necessarily happy with what happened last season, particularly regarding his playing time in important matches.”

XXL ambitions, inconsistent minutes, big matches spent on the bench: the perfect recipe for creating discomfort. The Frenchman sometimes felt he was not a real choice for the coach during crucial games. And in a club like Paris, that stings.

Ultimately… he stays. And he was right

The tide has turned. Injuries have piled up in attack, and now Barcola has become an indispensable element at the start of the season. Ironically, without moving, he has regained a prominent position.

One question remains: what will his role be at the end of the season if PSG continues on an XXL European run?

In the meantime, the departure saga is put away. Even better: Barcola is set to extend his contract. PSG and his entourage are preparing to initiate discussions for a contract extension. A two-year extension is on the table, until June 30, 2030.

Barcola thought about leaving… but in the end, it is Paris that should keep him a little longer. The transfer window better be ready.
