Nuno Mendes could have worn white. Before he became one of PSG’s key weapons, the Portuguese left-back was very close to signing for Real Madrid.

Covid changed everything : Back in 2020, Madrid had Mendes in their sights, just like Havertz. But the Covid-19 pandemic forced the club to freeze transfers, cut wages, and pause all major moves — including for the then-rising Sporting CP star.

Paris took the chance

That’s when Jorge Mendes stepped in. The agent redirected his protégé toward PSG, where Nuno Mendes exploded under Luis Enrique. Today, at just 23, he’s considered the best left-back in the world and recently extended his deal until 2029.
