Real Madrid surprised everyone by publishing an official statement denying any contact with Michael Olise’s entourage. It was a rare move, and far from meaningless. Behind the Spanish club’s response lies a matter of regulations and legal caution.
Real Madrid broke its silence on Michael Olise with a statement released in recent hours. In short: no contact has been made with the Bayern Munich player. But why such a move?
Real Madrid Wants to Avoid Any FIFA Trouble
As with the Julián Álvarez case a few months ago, and even the Mbappé situation, Florentino Pérez’s club wants to avoid any accusation of illegal negotiations. Michael Olise is still under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2029, which severely limits the possibility of any direct approach.
Under FIFA’s regulations on the status and transfer of players, a club wishing to sign a player under contract must first officially inform his current club before opening any discussions with him or his representatives. Breaking that rule can lead to heavy disciplinary sanctions.
Real Madrid therefore chose to shut down the rumors by publicly clarifying its position. The message is clear: no negotiations have been opened with the French international without Bayern Munich’s prior approval. The situation could still evolve in the coming months if the Spanish giants decide to make a real move, but for now, Los Blancos are playing the transparency card and refusing to take the slightest risk with FIFA.
