Didier Deschamps is expected to make several adjustments for France’s second match against Iraq on Monday evening at the 2026 World Cup. Despite criticism following the 3-1 victory over Senegal, Ousmane Dembélé still enjoys the full confidence of the French coach and is expected to start.

The biggest change could come in midfield. Aurélien Tchouaméni did not train with the group on Sunday, although the medical staff is not concerned about his condition. The Real Madrid midfielder is expected to be rested at kickoff, opening the door for Manu Koné to start alongside Adrien Rabiot. The AS Roma midfielder, highly regarded by Deschamps, could use this opportunity to strengthen his position in the squad hierarchy. Désiré Doué is also expected to make way for Bradley Barcola.

France’s probable lineup against Iraq: Maignan – Koundé, Saliba, Konaté, Hernandez – Koné, Rabiot – Dembélé, Olise, Barcola – Mbappé.
