Real Madrid are wasting no time after their heavy 4-0 defeat to PSG — the club is now prioritising defensive reinforcements. According to AS, Los Blancos have set their sights on Ibrahima Konaté, who is out of contract with Liverpool in 2026 and has yet to sign an extension.
The 26-year-old French international is reportedly keen on joining the Spanish giants. While Liverpool are asking for €50 million (£42m), Real Madrid are hoping to lower the fee to €20–25 million (£17–21m), especially if David Alaba leaves this summer.
Konaté gives the green light
The Madrid board are playing the long game, counting on the player’s contract situation to drive the price down. And according to multiple sources, Konaté has already expressed his desire to wear the white shirt.
Will Liverpool take the risk of losing him for free next year? The next few weeks could be decisive.
