It is a homecoming story for Thiago Silva. Available on a free transfer after the end of his contract with FC Porto, the Brazilian center-back has officially returned to Fluminense, the club where his professional journey began.
Thiago Silva is heading back to Brazil. At 41 years old, the former PSG captain has signed a contract with the Rio de Janeiro club until December. The move feels very much like one final challenge before bringing an extraordinary playing career to a close.
Thiago Silva’s Emotional Return to Fluminense
First discovered in Fluminense’s colors before making his move to Europe, Thiago Silva went on to build a remarkable career. He enjoyed successful spells with AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and, most recently, FC Porto.
The experienced Brazilian defender will now look to bring his leadership, knowledge and winning mentality back to his beloved club during what could be the final months of his professional career.
Fluminense announced the return with an emotional message on social media, welcoming back “The Monster,” a nickname that has followed Thiago Silva throughout his illustrious career.
