Neymar has settled his scores. After returning to action with Santos in a 1-1 draw against Botafogo, the former PSG star didn’t hold back when discussing his disappointing stint at Al-Hilal.

Speaking to Cazé TV (comments relayed by UOL), Neymar openly criticized his former coach, Jorge Jesus, who had previously suggested that the Brazilian was no longer at the required level.

“I’m ready to play. I won’t be able to last 90 minutes just yet—I was injured for a long time, had a serious injury, came back, and got hurt again. I was training, but I needed to play, because that’s where I feel happy. I was very upset when Jorge Jesus said I wasn’t at the level of the team”, Neymar said.

“The Pitch Speaks for Itself”

“At training, it was completely different—I showed that I was fit to play, just like the other players. I’d like to put a bunch of worms on his head! I don’t like to create controversy, but this is the truth.”

“I knew that once I stepped on the field, I would prove something different. The pitch speaks for itself, and it’s the only place where I can defend myself from criticism, from words, and from what people think about me”, he added.

With these strong statements, Neymar has made it clear that his relationship with Jorge Jesus ended on bad terms, adding yet another dramatic twist to his controversial departure from Al-Hilal.
