The saga of Karim Benzema resumes. At nearly 38 years old, the Al-Ittihad striker refuses the idea of a quiet retirement. He admits to dreaming of the French national team, and the timing is shaking up the landscape: Zidane could return, Deschamps is wavering, and rumors are swirling.

Karim Benzema back in the French national team? RMC Sport consultant Walid Acherchour cools the atmosphere: according to him, Benzema will never see the Blues again. “The chapter of the French national team is definitely closed for Benzema; he needs to move on,” he stated on RMC.

“However, a return to Europe interests me, with a return to OL. It would be the best ending for Benzema as a football player to finish at OL,” Acherchour specified on the After Foot this Tuesday.

With his contract ending next June and surrounded by rumors (extension, return to Europe, retirement), the former Madrid player keeps the suspense alive. “I am at the end of my contract. I can’t say yet if I will stay or leave; it depends on many things. In December, I will be 38 years old, but I still see myself playing for another two years.”
