Hakimi collects his African Ballon d’Or… on a knee-support scooter - Watch

Achraf Hakimi may have been crowned African Player of the Year, but he chose to make an entrance nobody will forget: rolling into the ceremony on a medical scooter, ankle locked in place as if he’d just walked off a sci-fi construction site.

After a tackle worthy of a cage fight against Bayern, the PSG full-back appeared at the Mohammed VI University in Rabat sporting a bulky orthopedic boot and perched on a knee-support scooter. Even injured, Hakimi somehow still manages to outshine our best party entrances.

His smooth, controlled glide didn’t stop him from picking up his trophy, a logical reward after a standout season capped by PSG’s first Champions League title. Hakimi had feared a fracture after Luis Diaz’s November 4 challenge, the kind that deserves every color of card plus a written apology. The verdict: a severe sprain, weeks of absence, and a highly unlikely return for PSG before 2025.

“Receiving this award is a huge honor”

“Receiving this award is a huge honor. Being recognized on my continent means something very special to me. I want to thank my teammates, the staff and everyone at PSG, the Moroccan Football Federation and the Moroccan people who support me every day,” Hakimi said.

His next mission is clear: be ready for the Africa Cup of Nations at home on December 21. Until then, Hakimi keeps collecting trophies… and high-end medical accessories.
